This one touches me.......I don't know why, but there is a sadness, and a knowing...of somewhere sometime deep within myself.....locked away in the cupboard......the answer..all it needs is the KEY!
I was able to return to Palestine this past summer, and I walked through Old Jerusalem, for a couple of hours, that was all the time I had unfortunately. When I see pictures like these, my eyes well up. I was there. And now I'm not, yet my heart longs to return again. It's like the song Fairouz sings "Mshait bil shawari', shawari' Al Quds Al Ateeqa" (I walked through the streets, the streets of Old Jerusalem).
John Wreford is a freelance photographer currently living in Damascus Syria.
The images on the Our Man in Damascus blog are a random selection of pictures taken on various commissions around Syria, I will leave the comments upto you.
